Low-Mileage Rolls-Royce Spectre near New Canaan, CT
Every performance car makes a sound as it accelerates. The Rolls-Royce Spectre makes an absence. Plant the throttle and three tons of hand-built motor car surges forward with the force of a serious sports machine while the cabin remains so profoundly silent that your own heartbeat becomes audible. It is the strangest and most addictive sensation in modern motoring, and for buyers near New Canaan, low-mileage examples of the car that produces it are beginning to appear on the pre-owned market at Miller Motorcars, the marque’s authorized Connecticut home at 342 West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich, roughly fifteen minutes from town.
This guide covers the Spectre with the emphasis it deserves: the driving performance that redefined what a Rolls-Royce can do, followed by why a lightly used example represents one of the most intelligent acquisitions in the current luxury market.
The Spectre in Brief
The Spectre is the first fully electric motor car in Rolls-Royce history: a vast two-door, four-seat super coupe built on the marque’s proprietary all-aluminum Architecture of Luxury, positioned as the spiritual heir to the Phantom Coupe. Electric propulsion was not a compromise for Goodwood; it was the destination the brand had been describing for a century. Torque without effort, motion without noise, presence without apology. The Spectre is what happens when the company that defined those qualities finally receives the powertrain built for them.
Driving Performance, by the Numbers
Instant Everything: 577 Horsepower and 664 lb-ft
Two electric motors, one per axle, give the Spectre all-wheel drive, 577 horsepower, and a colossal 664 lb-ft of torque available from the first millimeter of throttle travel. The result moves 6,559 pounds of motor car from rest to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, but the figure undersells the experience. Because peak torque exists at zero rpm, there is no downshift, no spool, no gathering of breath; the Spectre simply departs, instantly and enormously, with a smoothness no combustion drivetrain has ever achieved. Overtaking on the Merritt becomes a thought rather than a maneuver. It is the purest expression of effortlessness Rolls-Royce has ever sold, and it happens to be genuinely quick.
The Planar Suspension and the Physics of Waft
The Spectre’s chassis engineering is where the numbers turn into magic. The Planar suspension system can decouple the anti-roll bars entirely on straight roads, letting each wheel absorb imperfections independently so the body floats undisturbed, then re-engage and stiffen everything in milliseconds when cameras and navigation data see a corner approaching. Rear-wheel steering shrinks the eighteen-foot coupe through New Canaan’s village streets and steadies it at highway speed, while the battery, mounted low in the floor, gives the car the lowest center of gravity of any Rolls-Royce ever built. A column-mounted B mode summons stronger regenerative braking for graceful one-pedal progress in town. The engineering total: a car this size should not corner this flatly, ride this serenely, and steer this precisely all at once, and nothing else does. Car and Driver’s Spectre coverage has described the result as a new benchmark for luxury motoring, electric or otherwise.
Range, Charging, and Real Use
The 102 kWh battery delivers an EPA-estimated 266 miles of range, replenished from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 34 minutes on a DC fast charger, though the ownership pattern for a car like this is simpler still: it charges overnight at home and begins every day full. For the way a Spectre actually lives near New Canaan, weekend drives, dinners in the city, the school run performed in absurd style, range ceases to be a consideration within the first week. The 700 kilograms of battery even earn their keep acoustically, doubling as a vast layer of sound insulation beneath the floor. In this car, even the physics serve the silence.
Presence That Earns the Performance
The Spectre looks like its numbers. Nearly eighteen feet of fastback coupe rides on 23-inch wheels, the widest illuminated Pantheon grille ever fitted to a Rolls-Royce spans the nose beneath the most aerodynamic Spirit of Ecstasy ever sculpted, and vast rear-hinged coach doors open onto a cabin for four genuine adults. Inside, the celebrated Starlight treatment extends beyond the headliner into the doors themselves, thousands of points of light wrapping the occupants, while the bespoke program makes every example effectively unique. The specification of any individual pre-owned Spectre is a significant part of its identity, and richly commissioned cars reward the buyer who finds them.
Why Low-Mileage Examples Are the Smart Buy
Spectres reach the pre-owned market gently. Their first owners are, almost by definition, collectors with garages full of alternatives, which is why the cars now surfacing typically show minimal mileage, extensive bespoke content, and immaculate histories. For the second owner, the arithmetic is compelling: commissions that originally ran well into the six figures beyond base price can now be acquired at a meaningful discount to their build cost, while the substance of the car remains effectively new. Electric drivetrains carry none of the running-in wear of combustion machinery, the high-voltage battery is covered by an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty from first delivery, and factory diagnostics can verify the pack’s health precisely before purchase. Ask for the battery report, the software status, and the original commission record, and a low-mileage Spectre becomes among the most transparent luxury purchases possible.
An Award-Winning Home for the Marque
Provenance matters most on cars like this, and the Greenwich operation supplies it in a way few dealers anywhere can. The Rolls-Royce team within Miller Motorcars has twice been named Dealer of the Year for the Americas at the marque’s global dealer awards, first among all dealers in the hemisphere, recognition from Goodwood itself for the standard of its sales and ownership care. Every pre-owned Spectre offered here is evaluated with factory systems by the technicians who service the marque daily, the pre-owned collection reflects the group’s fifty years of curation, and the finance team structures terms suited to acquisitions of this caliber. Buying the right Spectre is really buying the right relationship, and this one carries the marque’s own endorsement.

Insufficient Funds
If a person writes a check without sufficient funds in an associated account to cover it, the check will bounce, or be returned for insufficient funds. Each state has laws regulating how merchants may respond to bounced checks. In Connecticut, the merchant may file a civil suit and press criminal charges if the check writer does not reimburse him for a bounced check after the merchant has sent several notices regarding the matter.
Posted Notice Requirement
Merchants and other business owners who accept checks must post a notice where customers are likely to see it warning them of the potential consequences of writing bad checks. The notice must include the civil penalties that bad check writers may face, the appropriate Connecticut statute number and an advisory that the check writer may also face criminal penalties
Civil and Criminal Penalties
As of 2010, civil courts may require the check writer to reimburse the merchant for the value of the check plus pay up to $750 if he has no back account or $400 if the check is returned for insufficient funds. If the merchant chooses to press criminal charges, the bad check writer may face a fine of up to $1,000 and up to one year in jail. Writing a bad check is a felony charge if the check was for more than $1,000 and a misdemeanor if written for a lesser amount.
Required Written Notices
If a check bounces, the merchant must send the check writer a letter by certified mail at the check writer's last known address or place of business. Usually this letter is sent to the address on the writer's check. The letter must inform the writer that the check was returned ask him to reimburse the merchant for the amount of the check and inform him of the potential criminal or civil penalties if he fails to do so. If the check writers does not respond to the letter within 15 days of receipt, the merchant must send a second letter. This letter must inform the check writer that he has 30 days to reimburse the merchant before the merchant takes legal action against him. Both letters must be written in both English and Spanish.
